From the Dundee Perth and Cupar Advertiser:

A Schoolmaster for the Parish of Errol
“He must be qualified to teach English, grammatically, Writing, Arithmatic, Book-Keeping, Mesuration, Latin and Church Music. The legal salary will be at least 300 merks Scots per annum. The perquisites arising from the office of Session Clerk are considerable. The schoolmaster will also have a free house, schoolhouse garden or an allowance in money for garden ground. The whole emoluments may amount to £60. A teacher of liberal education, ability, industry and sobriety may depend on a very numerous school as Errol is situated in the heart of a rich and populous country.

Candidates may apply either personally by letter, post paid to the Rev David Dow, Minister of the Parish, before the first day of December next and every application must be accompanied with satisfactory attestations of success in teaching, good moral character, a peaceable disposition and sound political principles.”
